TV Auction

Hope Rotary TV Auction 2009 is May 14!

From 1992 to 2003, the Rotary Club of Hope raised funds and entertained the local community with the annual Rotary TV Auction, held in mid November. The production quality and caliber of on air delivery was somewhat less than you would experience on national network TV, but a good time was had by both the production crew and viewers, and thousands of dollars were raised each year to support the community projects and activities of the Rotary Club of Hope.

Starting in 2008, the Hope Rotary TV Auction has returned! The time of year has been moved to the spring and the venue has been changed to allow for a live audience to participate, but all of the fun and great deals are back! This year's event is May 14, but now is the time to start looking ahead to the fun!

As in the past, a building full of valuable donated goods from Hope and area businesses and merchants will be put on the auction block, with all money raised going to support Hope Rotary projects.

All past and potential future donors are urged to start planning now for what they want to donate. Remember, in return for your donation, you will receive the following benefits!

  • Your business featured online as part of our list of Auction items
  • Promotion of your business during the auction
  • The knowledge that you have helped Rotary Club of Hope in its ongoing service to the of community of Hope
  • New! A limited number of spaces are available for TV Auction Sponsors! We will be offering local businesses the opportunity to a be recognized sponsor of the broadcast. More details will be available soon.

If your company or service does business in Hope or would like to become known in our community, please consider a donation to the Rotary Auction.

Yes! The 2009 edition of the Rotary River Run Regatta, AKA the Fraser River Barrel Race is on June 7th from Hell's Gate to Hope.

Starting with the Barrel Bearer's Buffet Breakfast at Hell's Gate Air Tram at 8:30 and the official launch of the barrels at 10:10 AM, the race will be on down the mighty Fraser River to Historic Yale, tracing parts of the route that Simon Fraser was afraid to take 200 years ago.

Once launched, the barrels are on their own as the Rotary River Run Regatta Regulatory Rules prohibit the assistance of or interference with any barrel while it is on the course. After the barrel becomes airborne from the Hell's Gate Bridge, no hands, human or otherwise, will be allowed to touch it until it is pulled from the river at the end of the race by the River Run Regatta Retrieval Rescue Regiment (AKA Hope Search and Rescue).

The winning barrels will be declared by the River Run Regatta Referee at the Barrel BBQ, hosted by the Yale Enhancement Society at the Yale Museum grounds, starting at 3:30 PM.

We are still finalizing plans for the 2009 River Run, but they will be sure to include:

  • Friday June 5 - The River Run Dinner - A barrel of fun for race participatants and the general public alike! 6:00 PM at the Hope Golf and Country Club - includes dinner, prize draws and chances to predict the winning barrels in Sunday's Race! • Barrel Breakfast Buffet - 8:30 Hell's Gate Air Tram. Each Barrel owner gets 2 tickets. All others - $20 a person - includes Breakfast, return ride on the World Famous Hell's Gate Air Tram and the rare opportunity to see the barrel launch Live.
